BASKETBALL INFO
SVAA's goal is to create an environment where every child will play and learn the game. No tryouts are required.
Over 6,700 participants play in the winter and summer seasons. K-1st grade is instructional and 2nd-12th is regulation play. K-2nd grade play on 8' hoops. SVAA rules require that each player play a minimum of one and one half quarters.
Maximum team size is 10 players, no exceptions.
Our winter season (grades K-12 for boys and K-6 for girls) runs from December through February with a tournament the first weekend in March for grades 2-12. Winter games are played on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons. There will be standings and tournaments for grades 2-12.
Our summer season (grades 2 -12 for boys and 2 - 6 for girls) runs mid-June to mid-July. Summer basketball is team registration only. Teams will play 10 games, one during the week and one on Saturday. Jerseys are not provided for the summer league, but can be purchased by contacting the SVAA office. There will not be an end of season tournament and standings will not be kept.
Coaches may request a practice gym by completing a practice request form. SVAA will assign the practice time. Winter teams get one practice time per week on a weeknight in an RISD gym. There are no practice gyms available during the summer season.
