General Information
|
SVAA's goal is to create an environment where every child will play and learn the game. No tryouts are required.
SVAA has been organizing softball leagues for over 35 years. Our T-Ball league is for Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and 1st grade girls. Machine pitch is 2-3rd grades (pitching machine speeds: 2nd at 30mph, 3rd at 32mph), and player pitch is 4-6th grades.
Our Spring season runs mid-April through the end of June and covers grades PreK-12. Games will be played on both weeknights and weekends. Rain outs will be rescheduled. Practice days and times are scheduled by the coach. There will be standings and tournaments.
Our Fall season begins after Labor Day and runs through late October and covers grades PreK-6. Games will be played on Saturday or Sunday only. Rain outs will not be rescheduled. Practices are optional and at the discretion of the coach. No standings, no tournaments, no trophies.
There is a substitution rules which states that no player may sit on the bench for two consecutive defensive innings. Each team must bat its roster. Team size maximum is 15 players.
Detailed information about SVAA softball rules can be found in the Coaches' Guide under the "Documents" tab.

Uniform Policies

An SVAA team jersey is provided to each player during our Spring season. Shoes and shorts/pants are the responsibility of the player. Consult your head coach for proper attire and colors prior to purchase. All players must look uniform. Shoes with metal cleats are not allowed. No jewelry can be worn during games.
Equipment will be issued to each coach with a $200 required deposit check. The coach will be given a time/date to arrive at the SVAA office to pick out equipment. Included is an equipment bag, bases, catchers mask, catchers mitt, chest protector, shin guards, batting helmets, bats, baseballs, and batting tee (for PK-1). The deposit check will be returned when the equipment is returned to the SVAA office after the end of the season.

Team Formation
Rosters for SVAA teams are formed by the grade level volunteer League Presidents based on player's grade, school the player attends, and space availability. Recruitment for specific teams by coaches or parents is not allowed. (Exception: 5th grade and up competitive baseball league can bring in their own players.) Players returning from the previous year will be placed on his/her last year's team unless otherwise requested. Requests by new players for a specific team will be considered but are not guaranteed.
