Spring and Fall

SVAA's goal is to create an environment where every child will play and learn the game. No tryouts are required.

SVAA offers volleyball for 3rd - 12th graders. Over 1,200 play in the fall and spring seasons. Teams play regulation volleyball following a best two out of three format, with rally scoring. 3rd and 4th graders play in a relaxed, instructional mode.  The fall season for 4th grade is instructional with no end of season tournament.  The spring season for 4th grade will have an end of season tournament.5th grade and higher provides an end of season tournament in both fall and spring.

6th-12th Grade provides both a coach formed league ad a recreational league.

Effective Fall/2010, the 3rd grade legue will be assigned a maximum of 10 players. This will "follow" this group up through all subsequent grades until all recreational leagues have a 10 player maximum team size. Coach formed teams require a mimimum of 9 players, however the maximum as at the discretion of the coach.

Games are played on Saturdays in RISD gyms. Each team gets one 90-minute practice time per week on a weeknight in an RISD gym. Practice slots are chosen by coaches. Ball sizes used are 3-6th Volleylite, 7-12th Standard 

Our Spring season runs early February through mid-April.  Our Fall season runs early September through early November.

Fall Season (3-12th grade)
Registration Deadline: Sunday, August 15, 2010

Coaches' Meeting:  Tuesday, August 24 at RISD Academy at 7:00pm
PCA Workshop August 8.
Practice:  Begins the week of Tuesday, September 7
Games Begin: Saturday, September 11, 2010
Tournament:  (5th grade and up) Saturday, November 6, 2010

Fall Season

3-4th grade - individual $85
5-12th grade recreational league - individual $90
6th grade coach formed league $990 per team

An SVAA team jersey is provided to each player.  Shoes and shorts are the responsibility of the player. Consult your head coach for proper attire and colors prior to purchase.  No jewelry can be worn during games.

Rosters for SVAA teams are formed by the grade level volunteer League Presidents based on player's grade, school the player attends, and space availability. Recruitment for specific teams by coaches or parents is not allowed. (Exception is 6th grade and up coach formed teams where a minumum of 9 players is required). Players returning from the previous year will be placed on his/her last year's team unless otherwise requested. Requests by new players for a specific team will be considered but are not guaranteed.  

Late Fee   If the registration form arrives in our office after the deadline, a non-refundable $10 late charge applies, the contract will be marked as late, and player's team assignment can only be made if space allows. 

Refund   A $20 administration fee applies on all refunds. Registration fees are totally non-refundable after the first game.
