General Information for Tackle and Flag

SVAA's goal is to create an environment where every child will play and learn the game. No tryouts are required. Every fall, SVAA offers both flag and tackle football programs. Last fall's flag program had approximately 469 players (32 teams) and over 781 players (42 teams) in the tackle program.

Special rules--SVAA imposes strict age and weight limitations on all players (see weight restrctions below for complete details). Each tackle player is required to furnish a copy of their birth certificate. Each tackle player is required to furnish a $200 equipment deposit check (separate check). This deposit check will not be cashed if all equipment issued to the player is returned in good condition by equipment return deadline.

Detailed information about SVAA tackle and flag rules can be found in the Coaches' Guide under the "Documents" tab.

Team Formation

Rosters for SVAA teams are formed by the grade level League President volunteer. They are based on player's grade, school the player attends, and space availability. Returning 6th grade players will be assigned to their past season roster, unless they have indicated otherwise. They will be placed on another team at the League President's discretion. Recruitment for specific teams by coaches or parents is strictly prohibited. Requests by new players for a specific team will be considered but is not guaranteed.

Private school players will be placed on teams according to the school they would normally attend if they attended a RISD school unless there are sufficient players to form a separate team from that private school or a nucleus from such school.

Late Fee and Refund Policy

Late Fee

If the registration form arrives in our office after the deadline, a non-refundable $10 late charge applies, the contract will be marked as late, and player’s team assignment can only be made if space allows.

Refund

A $20 administration fee applies on all refunds. Registration fees are totally non-refundable after the first game.
